Yah! Finally found Funeral on vinyl.. Great album and one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. If you don’t have this album, you hate puppies and kittens, and that’s just weird.

I used to hate Rush, I still kind of do. I used to argue with older folk about how terrible they were. These facts did not escape me as I made my way to the counter to purchase this album.. Was this in fact the exact moment I became old and lame? Perhaps. Sure I justified it to myself… it’s only $4 … it’s so lame it’s cool… all true, but the real truth is I wanted this album.

If you don’t know what this album is, then you should just give up and go back to your Nickelback and Dance mix 91 CD. Go ahead, beat it! Get out of here! We don’t want your kind around here.

Not there best, to be frank I think it’s a weak effort, but their dual song “Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love” track is one of the best things they’ve ever written, and surprisingly it was written after listening to a lot of Arcade Fire.

Don’t judge me.

I love Smokey. That is all.

I’ve spoken to a lot of people that don’t particularly like Metric’s last release Fantasies. Those people are retarded.

Wilco will love you baby. PS, fanastico album cover.

If you’re a fan of Grandaddy like myself, then you have to pickup Jason Lytle’s first solo album.

Explosions in the sky!

I’ve never been a big Marley fan. But this best of LP was on sale at Vinyl Diner and I snapped it up. I’ve been listening to it straight for a week now. Hooked.

This picture is from the Freehouse last week. Also checked them out at Lyds Yesterday and they were in fine form.

Not so white anymore, but still sounds just as good. Still has the original poster/lyric sheet and 4 individual photos of the fab four.

Well… I had planned on changing up my usual Friday routine. Generally about 5:00, a series of emails and texts fly around and we end up at Amigos for supper, then drinks. People are out of town or working tonight so I figured I would take advantage and stay home, clean up and do some laundry. So what am I doing? Posting pictures of my vinyl.. I can’t help it. I came home and leaning up on my door was my Postal Service LP. Fresh from SubPop! I got excited all over again.
Anyhow, Here DCFC’s Plans. I would have the entire collection of DCFC stuff if I could… but you know. Money. And lot’s of albums are out of print. I’ll find them though. I’m basically like a ninja. Minus the skills.

Wooo! Two more LPs came in the mail today. These were a little tougher to get as they are no longer in print. Love love love the Blue album… Pinkerton though, is by far their best.

I was rummaging through the Vinyl Exchange’s bins and I found this original pressing of Neil Young’s Harvest. Mint condition. It’s beautiful. Talked the kid at the counter down from $45 to $35. Pretty damn good deal for one of my favourite albums from Mr. Young.

Rocked the Bloc Party show yesterday. We had been looking forward to it for what seemed like an eternity. We don’t get a lot of shows in Saskatoon, and we get even less from the UK.
AND!

We met Matt Tong(Bloc Party drummer in case you were wondering) after the show. He and a friend came up to Oshea’s rooftop deck for a drink. We bought them a round and invited them over to sit at our table…. and they did! Good times were had. Had a few too many drinks, and by a few I mean 7 too many, but it was one of the funnest weekends I’ve had in a long time.

Replaced my cheap Sony record player with this dirty little number. Not that the Sony didn’t sound good but this thing sounds fantastico! Now all I need is a set of these. So yah, you can go ahead and pick me up a set if you want to.

We like to head out to Lyds on Tuesday to check out the open stage night. It’s surprisingly fun and every now and then we come across truly talented musicians. I had hopes for this one. She was cute, played the piano, wrote her own songs…. Hope quickly dissipated into disappointment. She used the word “jaded” like 3 times in her first song, which is my all time, number one, most hated thing in music.. oh and referred to every song after as her “next composition”. Barf.
